Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, US try to resume dialogue between Kabul and Taliban in January

Islamabad, Pakistan: Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and US are trying to resume dialogue between Kabul and Taliban in January but no positive response has come from Taliban side.

According to Advisor to PM on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, representatives of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and United States will meet in the first week of January to discuss ways to resume dialogue between Afghan government and the Afghan Taliban.
“The meeting of the four-party mechanism on reconciliation in Afghanistan will assess the situation and discuss the mechanism of the second round of dialogue,” the Advisor told reporters here at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad.

It may be mentioned that Pakistan on the suggestions of China is trying to do the role of go-between for Afghan government and Afghan Taliban since long but process was suspended when the news of death of Taliban Chief Mullah Omar was made public just three days before scheduled dialogue of all stakeholders.

The issue was under discussion during Heart of Asia Conference in Islamabad because no development work i region can be done without achieving peace in Afghanistan but Taliban are gaining ground in their fight with Afghan government and NATO forces therefore they (Taliban) are not in mood for negotiations those can hamper their strategic situations n Afghanistan.

It may be mentioned that Taliban have almost won Helmand province and moving towards Herat after leaving Nanghahar province for Daesh terrorist organisation. Latest strategy of Taliban is putting extreme pressure on Pak-Afghan borders because Daesh is much callus organisation in implicating Shariah in the region and no negotiations are possible with Daesh leadership.
