Pakistan had, in the past, launched intelligence-based precision strikes on terrorist camps inside Afghanistan and achieved its objectives by eliminating hundreds of TTP and BLA terrorists. However, certain friendly countries intervened and requested Pakistan to exercise restraint, assuring Islamabad that the Afghan Taliban would not support the TTP or BLA and that terrorist attacks inside Pakistan would be stopped. Consequently, Pakistan halted its air campaign against terrorist targets.
Despite these assurances, attacks on Pakistani soil continued, rather increased. When the friendly countries were approached to fulfill their commitments, they expressed their inability to do so, stating that the Afghan Taliban denied any involvement in the attacks. The decision to stop the air campaigns cost Pakistan heavily, resulting in significant casualties and a sharp increase in terrorist attacks across the country.
China, Turkey, and Qatar facilitated dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan, but every round of talks ended without tangible results. The Afghan Taliban consistently maintained that they would not take action against the TTP and claimed that TTP operatives present in Afghanistan were not responsible for attacks inside Pakistan. Instead, they alleged that TTP members already residing within Pakistan were carrying out these attacks.
Pakistan provided audio recordings, video evidence, and location-based intelligence to friendly countries, demonstrating how terrorists were infiltrating Pakistan from across the Afghan border with the assistance of the Afghan Taliban. However, these efforts failed to produce any meaningful outcome, as the Afghan Taliban did not move an inch from their stated position despite the presentation of irrefutable and credible evidence.
Since Russia signed a military cooperation agreement with the Afghan Taliban, the latter have become more emboldened, openly allowing terrorists to enter Pakistan while claiming that all countries maintain friendly relations with Kabul except Pakistan. This strategic development is perceived by many in Pakistan as having boosted the morale of the Afghan Taliban, making them more aggressive toward Islamabad.

Furthermore, India and Russia reportedly facilitated negotiations between the Afghan Taliban and Tajikistan aimed at improving relations. This development also strengthened the Taliban’s confidence, reinforcing their belief that their strategy of using terrorism as diplomatic leverage had succeeded in gaining acceptance from countries that were previously critical of them. It may be mentioned Tajikistan reported many terrorist’s attacks from Afghan soil, killing local and Chinese citizens and culprits who were involved in Moscow concert hall were also trained inside Afghanistan.
The Afghan Taliban appear to believe that increasing pressure on Pakistan through continued terrorist activity will eventually compel Islamabad to accept their demands, including expanded trade arrangements, leniency toward undocumented Afghan nationals residing in Pakistan, and the continuation of cross-border smuggling activities. Pakistan, however, has rejected what it considers unreasonable demands and has maintained that it will continue to safeguard its national interests and security.
Commenting on the situation, an Afghan journalist with the condition of anonymity said that the Pakistani military conducted a number of cross-border strikes in Khost, Kunar and Paktika provinces against dozens of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP) terrorists who were preparing to cross from Afghanistan into Pakistan to carry out attacks.
He said that TTP and ISKP always live and operate from areas surrounded by local communities and use local population as human shield, force locals to support their operational movements, and use civilian areas as part of their tactics, techniques, and procedures. The blood of every innocent person killed rests on the terrorists including the Afghan Taliban who sustains this terrorist safe haven. That is the reality of terrorism, no matter how many try to ignore it.
Pakistani fighter jets reportedly carried out airstrikes in Khost, Kunar, and Paktika provinces tonight, between around 12: 30 and 1: 00 AM.
According to initial reports, the strikes targeted the IMP Shurah Markaz in Spera district of Khost, TTP DAK Markaz in Shultan in Kunar,…
