Around 1,368 policemen killed, 2,370 injured in Afghanistan this year

KABUL, Afghanistan: Around 1,368 members of the Afghan national police and Afghan local police forces have so far been killed in various violent incidents across the country this year, the Afghan interior minister Muhammad Omar Daudzai said.

The Afghan interior minister told the country’s Senate house on Tuesday that at least 2,370 other Afghan policemen were also injured following militants attacks, roadside bombings and other insurgency related activities during this period.

In the meantime, Daudzai said at least 5,503 militants were killed and 2,370 others were injured during the operations.

Daudzai also called on international community to further strengthen the Afghan national security forces by helping Afghanistan with the equipping process.
