QUETTA: Muhammad Khan Achakzai was sworn in as Balochistan Governor during a ceremony held at the Governor’s House in Quetta on Thursday evening.

Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Esa administered oath to Achakzai in the ceremony attended by politicians, bureaucrats, lawyers and others.

Muhammad Khan Achakzai is the elder brother of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai. He is a retired bureaucrat from the Planning Commission of Pakistan, where he served as a chief economist in Grade-22.

He was appointed as governor after the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, PKMAP and the National Party evolved consensus on a power sharing formula following the general election on May 11.
