DND Report: Pakistan is practically going through a war-like situation, and Indian-sponsored, Afghan-injected terrorism has already caused 1,150 deaths, including 488 security personnel, from January to September 25, 2026.
The figure indicates that at least one man in uniform is trading his life daily to protect the future of the motherland, but at the same time, political jokers are making a mockery of the people by continuing their political circus. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi is one of such politicians.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the hardest-hit province in the terrorism wave, but CM Afridi is neither available to attend the funerals of martyrs nor even ready to condole with the families of security men who lost their lives to protect this province. His insensitive and indifferent conduct after the attack on the Kohat Police Lines Mosque testifies that he is least bothered about martyrs as well as the law-and-order situation in the country, and his sole desire is to please his leader, who is in Adiala Jail on corruption charges.
When a journalist asked Sohail Afridi a question about the law-and-order situation in KP during a press conference on the same day when Kohat attack took place, he responded, “You talk useless while we are busy managing the release of our leader from the jail.” What a shameful attitude for a Chief Minister who is responsible for the law-and-order situation of his province.

Even after the suicide attack on the Kohat Police Lines Mosque, he continued his campaign for mobilizing followers for the September 27 protest march towards Islamabad. Now he is postponing the march because the public has refused to come out onto the streets. The postponement of the “long march” to October 4 may be a tactic to prolong confusion and chaos among the public but journalists from Peshawar believe that the change of date of the long march is a strategic compromise because PTI is in panic mode as workers have refused to join this useless exercise. They are of the view that party leaders, particularly Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, made every effort to mobilize people for the long march during countrywide and provincial tours, yet failed to attract the public to come out for the long march. Some journalists believe that another reason for the postponement can be the situation in which PTI cannot use government machinery and resources for the long march, as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed the provincial administration not to provide public resources to PTI for its political activities.
“KP Police is not ready to attend the long march, while the civil administration is not ready to provide resources such as government vehicles and security personnel. The postponement of the long march represents a political as well as administrative failure of CM Sohail Afridi, and now he wants some excuses for his face-saving”, commented a journalist sitting in Peshawar Press Club on Friday.
The most pressing question that arises now is: Can a sensitive province such as KP be run by such jokers as Sohail Afridi, or will there be a new Chief Minister or an Administrator to run the province? For all practical purposes, Sohail Afridi should not continue in his position because neither does he have the following of PTI workers nor is he interested in safeguarding his province from terrorists, and he is also a total failure administratively.
So, what should be next if the state wishes to safeguard the population of KP from further chaotic law and order as well as failing governance of the province? A normal and active leadership is needed for KP, especially given that terrorism has taken on a new dimension under the current administration.
