HERAT: At least 12 Afghan workers were killed in two separate incidents of violence, officials said on Tuesday.

The bodies of four engineers and two workers, whom Taliban had kidnapped and later killed on Sunday, were found on Tuesday in the Gulran district of western Herat province, Governor Fazlullah Wahidi said.

The deceased worked for a World Bank-funded programme created by the Afghan President Hamid Karzai government that aims to improve local project management.

Moreover, six other bodies of Afghan civilians were discovered in the restive eastern province of Paktia.

The deputy provincial governor Abdul Wali Sehee said that the six, all drivers, were killed by Taliban because they were working with the government.
