ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Thursday sought all the relevant record and notifications with regard to appointment of Salman Faruqi as federal ombudsman.

A three-member bench of the apex court heard a suo moto case on the appointment of Faruqi. The bench observed that as per the record Salman Faruqi applied for leaves on May 4, 2012 when he was serving as secretary general.

On May 9, 2012 the prime minister not only approved his leave application but only approved $25,000 for medical treatment of his wife abroad.

The bench observed that as per the statement of Managing Director Printing Corporation of Pakistan he did not receive the notification about his leaves for printing.

The bench ordered to submit all the relevant record and notifications and adjourned the hearing till July 22, 2013.
