Sindh govt agrees to hold LB polls on Jan 18

KARACHI: The Sindh government has agreed that local bodies elections in the province will be held on January 18 as per directions of the Supreme Court.

It was revealed on Thursday that the Chief Secretary Sindh has assured the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that the local bodies polls in the province will be held on January 18 as per directions of the apex court.

The ECP may‚ therefore‚ issue the election schedule for local bodies elections in Sindh on December 18.

Earlier it was reported that a meeting was held between the Chief Secretary Sindh and the acting Chief Election Commissioner earlier in the day but the meeting remained unfruitful from the perspective of the Sindh government as it refused to hold local bodies elections in the province on January 18.
