PM approves brigade level cantonment for Swat, Malakand areas

SWAT: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday in principle approved and announced a brigade level cantonment for Swat and Malakand areas.

The premier gave this approval during a briefing given to him in de-radicalisation center at Sabawoon in Mingora, Swat where he visited on Wednesday.

During his visit, the prime minister appreciated Pakistan army’s efforts for the establishment of peace and development of the infrastructure in Swat. He also lauded the role played by Pakistan army in bringing peace and stability to the area.

The prime minister said that the government is alive to the issues of backwardness‚ unemployment and economic deprivation and is striving to address these challenges through judicious distribution of resources.

Sharif said that the government is also trying to curb extremism and provide to the people equal opportunities of progress and development.

In addition, he said that the de-radicalisation centre, where the youth are given guidance to avoid extremism and become part of mainstream, has been lauded locally as well as internationally.
