Musharraf gets exemption from court appearance in Judges' detention case

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Monday resumed the hearing of the judges’ detention case during which counsel for the former President Pervez Musharraf, Advocate Ilyas Siddiqui, requested the court to grant his client exemption from appearing before it today which was granted.

During today’s proceedings, the counsel for Musharraf said that the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) was not providing the former president’s defence team with his medical reports and added that the court may seek these on its own.

Meanwhile, public prosecutor Nadeem Tabish said that neither Musharraf nor his guarantors were appearing before the court and requested it to decide over the matter on merit at the next hearing of the case.

The court directed that former president should be produced before it in the next hearing and adjourned the hearing to March 7.
