ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved the country’s internal national security policy, demanding the militants to give up arms struggle and announce unconditional ceasefire.
The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will announce the policy during the National Assembly session on Wednesday. Prime Minister will also attend session.
A meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of the prime minister in Islamabad on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the ministers discussed important national issues as well as the prevailing law and order situation in the country. They also consulted on the national security policy and on peace talks with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
The meeting decided that the Taliban should announce an unconditional ceasefire for the dialogue process to move forward. It decided that the targeted operation against militants in the tribal areas will continue, while special arrangements would be made from people fleeing these areas.
The prime minister said that no one would be allowed to challenge the writ of the government.
