Progress towards next round of direct talks with Taliban expected soon: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: The federal minister for interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Friday that the federal government wants to make the next round of talks with the Taliban meaningful and result-oriented while a progress towards the next round of direct talks is expected to be made in a few days.

In his address to a news conference in Islamabad on Friday afternoon, the interior minister said that the government cannot be blamed for the delay, as it was decided during the last two rounds that the Taliban would convey date and venue of the next round but they could not.

The interior minister further said that a new system of security is being introduced in Islamabad from next week.

Under the new arrangement, police and rangers would ensure patrolling round-the-clock to check street crimes and other criminal activities, he said.
