ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP) and Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A) have decided to field Senator Raza Rabbani as their joint candidate for the presidential election, scheduled to be held on August 6.

Nomination papers of Raza Rabbani will be filed on Wednesday (tomorrow).

Earlier‚ a consultative meeting of the PPP and ANP was held in Islamabad today to finalize strategy for presidential elections.

Opposition leader in the National Assembly Khurshid Shah briefed the meeting regarding his contacts with different political forces on the issue.

Shah said consultations have been made with Muttahida Qaumi Movement and other political parties to garner their support for Mian Raza Rabbani.
