ATTOCK, Pakistan: In seven Union Councils (UCs) of Punjab’s Attock district, Local Bodies election will also be held on December 5 (Saturday).

Local Bodies election in these UCs could not be held on December 19 some of legal bottlenecks.

The UCs where local bodies election will be held include Jhang and Bahtar of tehsil Fatehjang and Jalwal, Nara, Saghri Mithial and Pindsultani of tehsil Jand.

As many as 69 polling stations have been established in these union councils where 85339 voters which include 45058 male and 40281 female will use their right of vote.

Out of these polling stations, 11 have been declared sensitive which include Govt Boys High School Mithial 1, Govt Girls High School Mithial, Govt High School Mithial 2, Govt Girls Middle School Kamalpur Sherjang, Govt Model School Gulyal , Govt Boys School Dhok Mochian, Govt Primary School Garhi, Govt Middle School Aurangabad, Govt Girls Commuity School Jalwal, Govt Model School Darakhani and Govt Boys Primary School Haveli.

As per the details, in UC Bahtar, there are 12430 voters (6557 male and 5873 female) where 19 candidates are on the run for the seats of chairman, vice-chairman and general councilors. In UC Jhang, there are 12261 voters (6644 male and 5617 female) where 30 candidates are on the run for the seats of chairman, vice-chairman and general councilors. In UC Jalwal, there are 8675 voters (4603 male and 4702 female) where 21 candidates are on the run.

In UC Nara, there are 13496 voters (6930 male and 6566 female) where 16 candidates are on the run. In UC Saghri, there are 13416 voters (6892 male and 6524 female) where 14 candidates are on the run while in UC Mithial, there are 10229 voters (5563 male and 4676 female) whereas 17 candidates are on the run.

In UC Pidsultani, there are 14832 voters (7869 male and 6963 female) where 21 candidates are on the run for the seats of chairman, vice-chairman and councilors seats.

It is worth mentioning that no female is contesting election from these union councils. The apparent competition is among PML-N, PTI and independent candidates.

To provide security cover to the voters on these polling stations DPO Attock Ayaz Saleem has deployed 700 police officials.
