ISLAMABAD: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) would convene a tribal Jirga for restoration of peace talks with the Taliban in February next year, the party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Wednesday.

The JUI-F chief said that the negotiations were suspended due to US missile strike in North Waziristan tribal region that killed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan’s (TTP) former chief Hakeemullah Mehsud.

However, he said, dialogues were needed to be restored immediately.

Fazl further said that peace talks should be initiated again and he hoped that the national leadership would support and attend the meeting of tribal jirga.
