PoliticsNo-confidence motion: PPP assures AJK prime minster of its support

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has assured Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed of its support in the face of the no-confidence motion submitted against him in the AJK Legislative Assembly secretariat.

A meeting was held between the PPP leader Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah and AJK premier in Islamabad on Thursday and mainly discussed the no-confidence motion brought against Majeed by two ruling Peoples Party (PPAJK) dissidents.

On July 22, Minister for Rehabilitation Abdul Majid Khan and MLA Muhammad Hussain Sargala submitted the resolution which also proposed the name of Barrister Sultan Mahmood, a top PPAJK leader, as successor of the incumbent premier.

The resolution is said to be enjoying the support of around 17-18 members of the ruling coalition along with the entire opposition. In relation to the motion, 10 cabinet members had also faxed their resignations to the AJK premier on Monday, the day the resolution was submitted in the assembly secretariat.
