MQM to observe day of mourning on Saturday

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will observe a day of mourning on Saturday to protest against the extra-judicial killings of its workers.

In a press conference with other members of the MQM Rabita Committee at party’s headquarter 90 in Karachi on Friday, the MQM leader Haider Abbas Rivzi said that extra-judicial killing of party workers was being carried out and demanded human rights groups to take notice of these killings.

The MQM leader said that there was no information of 45 missing activists, adding he did not know whether missing workers were alive or in the custody of law enforcement agencies.

Rizvi said that Muhammad Suleman and his nephew were arrested by police from Korangi Crossing on February 3. He said that according to post-mortem report of Suleman he was brutally tortured.

Meanwhile, Karachi Transport Ittehad said that it will fully support MQM’s day of mourning and announced to keep public transport off the roads.
