ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The coalition government on Monday addressed a Joint Press Conference in Islamabad on the Country’s current political situation; however, the transmission on TV Channels was disrupted including at state-run PTV News when the PML-N Leader Mariyam Nawaz was speaking.

Television channels circles are of the view heavy rain in Islamabad made technical issues for transmission and disruption was due to technical reasons.

The Press Conference was attended by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Usama Qadri, Shahzain Bugti, Mohsin Dawar, Mohammad Aslam Bhootani, Tariq Bashir Cheema and other leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

As soon as the Press Conference kicked off with the remarks by Maryam Nawaz, it got disrupted and state-run PTV News was using private channels feed including Samaa TV, 24 Channel, and Channel 92. Whenever Maryum Nawaz talked about something critical, the anchors in the newsrooms including on state-run television started commentary and her voice was muted and replaced with anchor’s commentary. It looked like her critical comments about the judiciary got censored.

 


Later, it returned to TV Channels, and a delayed Press Conference was transmitted when the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman was talking.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
