LAHORE, Pakistan: The Lahore High Court (LHC) annulled the notification issued by the Speaker National Assembly and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) accepting the resignations of 72 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNAs.

In the Lahore High Court, Justice Shahid Karim announced the decision on Friday after hearing a petition against acceptance of the resignations of PTI members of the National Assembly.

The Court also directed both the PTI members and the Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf to have a meeting with regard to the withdrawal of resignations.

Among the members whose resignation notification has been invalidated are Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Hammad Azhar, Riyaz Fatiana and Shafqat Mahmood.

LHC’s decision of reinstating PTI MNAs laudable

Meanwhile, the PTI leaders termed the Lahore High Court’s decision to reinstate PTI MNAs a win for the Constitution and democracy during these dark times, saying the puppet NA opposition leader would have to go now.

The PTI Central Secretary Information Farrukh Habib and PTI senior leader Hammad Azhar said that the decision of LHC to declare NA Speaker’s order of not allowing PTI MNAs to participant in the assembly sessions void ab initio was a ray of hope in this darkness.

Farrukh Habib said that Justice Shahid Karim of LHC null and void the decision of NA Speaker of accepting the resignation of PTI MNAs, reinstating all PTI Punjab MNAs. He said that the puppet NA opposition leader Raja Riaz would now be removed in any case.

In his reaction, Hammad Azhar said that LHC has set aside the illegal order of the Speaker National Assembly whereby he was not allowing PTI MNA’s to participate in the assembly session.

Hammad Azhar said that during these dark times, it was a win for the constitution and democracy.
