ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani Wednesday while welcoming Intra-Institutions dialogue among State institutions said it would help further strengthen the democratic system in the country.

Speaking in the House, he said the process of Intra-Institutions dialogue was started by Chief Justice of Pakistan first and he (Rabbani) had participated in the dialogue held at the Supreme Court.

   

“The honourable CJP extended the process by addressing to the Senate committee on Tuesday,” he said.

Rabbani said the State institutions were strengthening adding that the smooth transition of civilian government took place for the first time in country’s history.

He recalled that a military dictator imposed emergency in the country on November 3, 2007.

“We are proud of it that mostly the existing members who were also part of the parliament at that time did not ratify the act of the then military dictator,” he said.

He said that the lawyers, civil society and all democratic forces struggled hard for the restoration of democracy.
