Corps Commanders discuss peace talks among other issues

RAWALPINDI: The Corps Commanders discussed peace talks during their meeting that was held at the Army General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Monday. The 169th Corps Commanders Conference will continue for two days. COAS Gen Raheel Sharif chaired the conference that started on February 10, 2014.

   

The sources said that during the meeting the ongoing dialogue process between the government, tour of COAS to Saudi Arabia  and the Taliban as well as the security situation at Pak-Afghan border also came under consideration.

According to ISPR, the two-day long conference was part of routine monthly meetings. On the first day of the conference, the forum dwelt at length on various professional matters. Second day of the conference is devoted to promotion board from Brigadier to the rank of Maj General.

Sources said that agenda evolves around Pakistan army’s professional issues, ground situation in the tribal areas, security at Pak-Afghan border and preparedness in accordance to field demands.
