ISLAMABAD: World Asthma Day is being observed on Tuesday and the theme for this year is “You Can Control Your Asthma.”
It is a global initiative to raise awareness of the respiratory condition and the most effective ways to control and treat it.
World Asthma Day takes place on the first Tuesday of May.
Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction, and bronchospasm. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Asthma is caused by environmental and genetic factors.
Its diagnosis is usually made based on the pattern of symptoms and/or response to therapy over time.
