Election tribunal nullifies result of PP-107 Hafizabad

LAHORE: An election tribunal in Lahore on Monday declared the result of the PP-107 Hafizabad null and void, and ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to conduct re-polling in the constituency.

An independent candidate Shoaib Shah Nawaz had won the seat of Punjab assembly from PP-107 Hafizabad during the general elections held in May last year. Later, he had joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The runner-up candidate in the constituency Nighat Intisar had filed a petition, challenging the election result and seeking re-election in the said constituency. Upon which today, Judge Kazim Ali’s court nullified the election result announced for PP-107 and ordered the ECP to conduct re-polling.
