Musharraf to leave AFIC today

ISLAMABAD: The former president Pervez Musharraf will leave the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC) later in the day after spending almost three months there to get medical treatment.

The sources said that Musharraf will likely be shifted to his Chak Shehzad farmhouse near Islamabad.

Musharraf was shifted to the AFIC in Rawalpindi for medical treatment after he suffered heart problem on his way to the special court to appear before it for the treason case on January 2, 2014.

Earlier in the day, the special court formed to try the former military ruler for high treason indicted him in the case, while Musharraf pleaded not guilty of the charges.

During the hearing, Musharraf’s counsel Farogh Naseem submitted two separate petitions seeking permission for his client to go abroad for treatment as well as to see his ailing mother.

The court reserved judgment on these applications and said that the order on the applications will be announced at 2:00 pm today (Monday).
