ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday issued schedule for local bodies elections in Balochistan, according to which local bodies elections will be held on December 7 in the province.

The nomination papers will be issued from November 6 for Balochistan polls, the Secretary ECP Ishtiaq Ahmed told a news conference in Islamabad.

The Secretary ECP said that schedule for local government elections in Punjab and Sindh will be announced on completion of delimitations‚ and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad on finalization of prerequisites.

“The schedule for Sindh and Punjab polls will be announced in the light of Supreme Court orders” he said.

Ishtiaq Ahmed said that the Local Bodies elections are three times bigger exercise than that of the general elections and printing press needed at least four months’ time to print ballot papers for the process.

The Secretary ECP further said only the magnetized ink will be used during the elections.
