KARACHI: A petition was filed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the Supreme Court’s Karachi registry on Monday, challenging the Sindh local government act 2013 as it was not in line with the constitution.

The petition was filed by the MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar who while speaking to media representative outside the court said that the Sindh local government act 2013 contradicts the constitution.

The MQM leader said his party has prayed in the apex court to declare this act void or order to amend some articles of it. He said that the control of education and transport should be given to local governments.

Dr Farooq further said MQM does not want delay in the local bodies elections at any cost.
