LAHORE: The federal government and the opposition want to appoint the most competent person for the post of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB); therefore the process is taking some time, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah told media on Friday.

So far four meetings have been held between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the opposition leader in Islamabad over the selection of a chairman for the NAB; however yet both the leaders have remained unsuccessful to break the deadlock.

For chairman NAB, a post that has been vacant for over four months, two names have already been proposed which include Justice (retd) Mian Muhammad Ajmal and Justice (retd) Ijaz Chaudhry.

Talking to media representatives outside the Lahore airport on Friday, Shah said that once the name of the candidate is finalized for the post of NAB chief, the final decision will be taken in a meeting with the prime minister.

The opposition leader said that people will have to think of themselves as Pakistanis in order to resolve the problems faced by the country.
