ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday disqualified Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Iftikhar Ahmad for having a fake degree.

Ahmad was elected from PPP-81 constituency of Jhang district of the Punjab province on the ticket of PML-N after winning the May 11 general elections.

However, the apex court after hearing a petition filed against the PML-N’s lawmaker seeking his disqualification for having a fake degree on Monday declared him ineligible as member of the provincial assembly and directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to disqualify the PML-N’s lawmaker.

The ECP would now release a new schedule for holding elections in the concerned constituency.
