ISLAMABAD: Acting President Nayyar Hussain Bokhari and Chairman Senate on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Punjab Governor Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmud.

Governor Mahmud had resigned from his office immediately after the May 11 general elections. But he was asked by President Asif Ali Zardari to continue the job for the time being.

According to a spokesman of President Office, the acting President has accepted governor’s resignation.

He also dismissed NAB Chairman Admiral (retd.) Fasih Bokhari. The Supreme Court had termed Fasih’s appointment null and void.

The acting president made the decisions at the recommendation of Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif.
