Elections 2013ECP says voters to get required voting information by today

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has asked the voters to get the required voting information of self and family members by just sending a message to 8300 today (Friday) as mobile service may be suspended on Saturday.

An official of Commission said‚ a voter must send his computerized National Identity Card number to 8300 – in reply the ECP will send him the necessary information for casting vote.

The information includes block code‚ serial number‚ polling station name and constituency number.

He said since the elections for both National and Provincial Assemblies constituencies are being held same day‚ a voter will be issued two separate ballot papers for each National and Provincial Assembly constituencies.

The Commission has used exclusive green ballot paper for National Assembly and White for Provincial assemblies vote.

Each Ballot paper will have serial number on the pattern of currency notes to avoid possibility of bogus voting. Voters will get ballot papers only after being marked. No voter is allowed to take ballot paper out of the polling station.

The voters will have to show their Computerized National Identity Card to get ballot paper. Expired cards will also be acceptable for this purpose but no other document like domicile or drivers licence will be admissible to issue ballot paper for casting vote.

He said first time in the history electoral rolls having photo of each voter and fingerprint had been provided to the polling staff.
