ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maiza Hameed on Thursday said PML-N never wanted confrontation with institutions as they were struggling to make strong democratic system in the Country.

Talking to a private news channel, Maiza Hameed said during the four years of PML-N tenure, the institutions had been strengthened due to its prudent policies.

“We are continuously facing victimization in the name of accountability but we only accepted it so that no one says we ran away from accountability process”, she highlighted.

The PML-N leader said the nation knew ruling party was faultless and not involved in any wrong doing as PML-N leaders respected judiciary and never defaced any state institution for getting any political point scoring. She urged the opposition to avoid political point scoring on national issues and respond positively to the government’s efforts toward country’s development.

“We are proud that we have made achievements in the last four years,” she said adding that the roots of democracy are strong in Pakistan today”.

In reply to a question, Maiza Hameed said no allegation proved against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, but he had always showed respect for the institutions and presented himself for accountability. She said Nawaz Sharif and his family was not afraid of consequences and they would face the revenge on the name of accountability.

Maiza said public would continue raising questions and institutions had to answer when a case over Panama papers were ended on “iqama”.
