ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Climate Change Zahid Hamid on Tuesday said according to National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) Chairman Usman Yousaf Mobeen, voting through biometric system was possible.

The Chairman NADRA had informed a meeting of the Electoral Reforms Committee that biometric voting was possible through offline system of the Authority and also recommended a hardware security system in that regard.

Zahid Hamid, who also heads the Electoral Reforms Committee, told media persons that the Minister of State for Information Technology and the Election Commissioner of Pakistan (ECP) would review the hardware security system while the committee would examine about the expenditure and time duration for its preparation.

The committee was working on the new draft of electoral laws and regulations and would complete the work soon, he added.

He said that as per the recommendations of the committee the Election Commission of Pakistan had included newly formulated code of conduct in its law.
