ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to hold Local Government Elections on reserved seats for Women, Peasants/Workers, Technocrat, Youth and Non-Muslims in Metropolitan Corporation of Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) on January 18.

The decision was taken under Section 17 of the ICT Local Government Act, 2015 read with Rule 41 of the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Conduct of Elections) Rules, 2015, said notification issued here.

The newly elected Chairmen from 50 union councils of Islamabad will exercise their right of vote to elect members against reserved seats of Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad.

According to the schedule issued by ECP, aspiring candidates can file their nominations papers from December 30 to December 31 this year.

The list of received nomination papers would be published on January 1st and objections could be raised till January 2.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on January 3 and appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers can be filed till January 4.

Appeals would be disposed on January 5 and candidates can withdraw their nomination papers till January 6.

Final list of contesting candidates with symbols allotted to them will be published on January 7. Polling will be held on January 18.
