TANK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Dawar Khan Kundi won the by-elections in NA-25 Dera Ismail Khan constituency with 73,755 votes against Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam – Fazl’s (JUI-F) Maulana Asad Mehmood who grabbed 66,063 votes, according to the unofficial results.

The by-elections was held on Wednesday in the NA-25 Dera Ismail Khan constituency. The polling started at 8am and continued until 5pm without any break. Personnel from the army, FC, district administration and police were deployed at sensitive polling stations of the constituency.

As many as seven candidates were in the run for this seat. However, a one-on-one contest was expected between the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s son Maulana Asad Mehmood and PTI’s Dawar Khan Kundi.

Earlier, the by-elections in the NA-25 Dera Ismail Khan constituency were postponed from August 22 due to security reasons.

It should be mentioned here that Maulana Fazlur Rehman emerged as successful from NA-25 in May 11 general elections; however, the seat today was lost to the PTI’s Dawar.
