QUETTA: Unknown assailants kidnapped cardiologist Dr Munaf Tareen as he was en route back to his residence from his private hospital at Pishin Stop in Quetta last night.

The sources said that the abductors, opening aerial gunfire, took him away on board his white vehicle.

Following his kidnapping, pickets were erected at the city’s exits and entrances, DIG Operations Syed Mubeen Ahmed said.

Meanwhile, a policeman was injured when some miscreants opened fire at the vehicle of Superintendent Police Bashir Barohi on Sariab Road. Police returned the attack wounding two miscreants. All the injured were shifted to Bolan Medical Complex.

Police registered the case against the two incidents and started investigations.
