LAHORE: Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) Lahore has warned of high to very high flood in River Chenab.
Flood warning has been issued for 23 villages as a huge torrent of 450,000 cusecs of water will pass through River Chenab in Chiniot.
The water juggernaut that is said to consist of 450,000 cusecs, will arrive today in River Chenab from Head Marala and Qadirabad. At least 60 villages lying on the bank of the river, are faced with threat of inundation. Of them, 23 villages have been issued a warning to evacuate.
PM directs provincial governments to keep a strict watch on floods and take urgent rescue and relief measures.
Kicking it into high gear, the district administration has tasked the government officers from Revenue Department, Health Department, Livestock and Agriculture with emergency duties in different areas.
Meantime, the personnel of Rescue 1122 have been alerted.
