SocialSC nullifies out-of-turn Shoulder Promotions in Sindh Police

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Wednesday declared null and void a new law of out-of-turn ‘Shoulder Promotions’ in Sindh Police.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Tasadduq Hussain Jilani heard the case and gave the verdict that all shoulder promotions, adhoc promotions and out-of-turn promotions are illegal.

The verdict will affect almost 164 police officers, including DIG, 50 SSPs and DSP, who were given out-of-turn promotions since 1994. The officers would be demoted in the light of SC order.
