RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government on Tuesday removed the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Zaeem Iqbal Sheikh and City Police Officer (CPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana from their posts for their negligence during Rawalpindi sectarian clashes.

Both police officers were also directed to submit report in IG Office, while SSP Punjab Constabulary was appointed as the CPO, media reports said.

The move came following Friday’s sectarian clashes that erupted between two groups in relation to the harassment of an Ashura procession in Rawalpindi’s Raja Bazar area.
