PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has launched the interest free loans scheme in federally administered tribal areas under which more than Rs 1 billion as credit would be provided to the deserving and poor people of tribal areas.

Addressing the launching ceremony at Agency Headquarters Ghalanai on Monday, he said interest free loan scheme would support Small Scale Entrepreneurs in FATA.

He announced to make legislation for abolishing “Soodi Nizam” in tribal areas. Governor also distributed cheques amounting Rs. 3million among the poor and deserving tribal people of the area.

Governor said that corruption and injustice in society has made system paralyzed adding it is the reason that poor remained poor in the country.

We want complete abolishment of interest system from tribal areas and those who are dealing Soodi Nizamwould be given punishment according to the law, he added.

He said that the money would provide unemployed, poor, skilled and deserving people interest free loans amounting to Rs 10,000 to Rs 50,000.

He said that FATA people had same right on public money and resources of the country as the people of other areas have.

He directed the relevant officials to ensure transparency in distribution of loans and declared that no political recommendations would be required to get loans. He said both male and female people would get benefit from the scheme.
