Hindus celebrating Diwali across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Hindu community residing in different parts of the country are celebrating Diwali on Thursday with religious zeal and fervor.

On the occasion, Earthen lamps would be lit up at houses, special prayers to be held at temples, sweets would be distributed and fireworks also be exhibited.

It is pertinent to mention here that Diwali festive is being celebrated in the mid of month of Kartik in the memory of Ram Chand who spent 14 years in tranquility.

Diwali will be celebrated by Balmiki Hindus in Bahawalpur and Bheel and Mangwal Hindu communities in different villages of the great desert of Cholistan.

In a message on the occasion of Hindu community’s Diwali festival being celebrated today, President Mamnoon Hussain said that the government is committed to make every possible effort for uplift and welfare of the minorities in the country.

The president said that the government would continue to protect the rights of the minorities.
