LAHORE, Pakistan: Managing Director, Pakistan Baitul Maal, Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh has said that Baitul Maal spent Rs 70 million for the treatment of poor patients all over the country during the current year.

He disclosed this during his visit to Al-Ehsaan Welfare Eye hospital near Mughalpura here on Wednesday.

He said that Rs 10 million were spent for the treatment of poor patients in Punjab. He appreciated the management of the hospital for providing free medical treatment to thousands of eye patients. He also appreciated those donors who were extending financial support to the hospital for free medical treatment and surgery of poor patients.

The MD Baitul Maal said that relationship between Pakistan Baitul Maal and Al-Ehsan welfare eye hospital was very old and so far Baitul Maal helped the hospital to the tune of Rs 13.5 million for the construction of building and purchase of ambulances.

He said that Baitul Maal also released Rs 10.4 million to the hospital for the treatment of eye patients. He said that Pakistan Baitul Maal would contribute 50% amount of Rs 7 million in the purchase of latest machine for eye surgery.
