SocialATC acquits accused in Musharraf attack case

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday acquitted an accused in Musharraf attack case.

Rana Faqeer Hussain was arrested in 2005 for his alleged involvement in the December 2003 attack on then president Pervez Musharraf`s convoy near Jhanda Chechi in Rawalpindi.

Earlier, the ATC judge Chaudhry Habibul Rehman on Wednesday resumed hearing of a petition filed for innocence of the accused from murder charges.

The court while accepting the petition ordered to release of the accused Rana Faqeer Hussain but the latter refused to come out of jail while keeping in view security risk.

Upon this, his lawyer requested the police to provide proper security to his client.
