Social6 dead, 544 injured in 458 road traffic accidents in Punjab

LAHORE: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) has managed 458 Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) in all Districts of the Punjab in last 24 hours, in which 06 precious lives were lost and 395 victims were seriously injured whereas 149 minor injured were provided first aid at the accidents’ site by rescue officials across the Province.

According to details issued on Friday, these 458 road traffic crashes affected 192 drivers, 17 underage driver, 66 pedestrians and 292 passengers. Total 78 RTAs took place in Lahore with 90 victims placing the Provincial Capital at top of the list followed by 50 in Faisalabad with 55 victims and Multan at third position with 32 RTAs and 32 victims.

According to the data of Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Rescue 1122, out of total 550 RTA’s victims, 453 were males and 97 females, while age group of the victims show that 73 were under 18 year of age, 342 were between 18 and 40 year and rest of the 135 victims were reported above 40 years. The vehicles involved in traffic accidents included 387 motorbikes, 47 auto rickshaws, 47 motor cars, 14 vans, 3 passenger buses, 23 trucks, 58 other types of auto vehicles and slow moving vehicles.
