ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Additional Inspector General (IG) Karachi Mushtaq Mehir has said that the Sindh government is considering a new strategy to overcome the street crime in Karachi which seeks to increase the use of more technology to tackle crime.

Talking to Voice Of America (VOA), he said that in order to avoid street crimes in Karachi the phone sets of biometric authentication will be made mandatory after biometric authentication of mobile phone SIMS.

He said in this regard the final decision has been made, even software for this purpose is almost near its completion.

He said according to new strategy, discussions are underway to change police culture while special resource center will be established.

To a question, he said that non-legitimate weapons eradication campaign is also planned to be launched soon.
