ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister of State Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said that a sum of Rs 100 million will be spent on the welfare and rehabilitation of special persons till the next December.

In addition to this an amount of Rs 10 million will be spent on the upgradation of the buildings and provision of other facilities of special education centers.

He was addressing at an event here Thursday to commemorate the International day of persons with disabilities, organized by the Directorate General of Special Education, an attached department of CA&DD in co-operation with World Health Organization & Pakistan Special.

The minister said that Government is not only acting upon the 2% quota for employment of special persons but they will also be provided job opportunities on open merit as well.

He said the present Government is taking serious measures for the education, training and rehabilitations of special children and added “we will collect the data of disabled children in Islamabad”.

Tariq Fazal, said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is taking keen interest in provision of education to special children.

He said special people are our responsibility adding that they are not disabled people rather they are people with special abilities.

He said through our positive behavior “we have to make them feel that the special children as important as other members of the society”.

In response to the demand by the disabled persons, he said that free books, bags and uniforms will be provided to the students of all special education centers of Islamabad.

He said the government will make a special policy for them.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Secretary CA&D Division Khalid Hanif said that degree classes will commence very soon in special education centers of the capital.

The students of special education centers presented different tableaus and national songs.

A special song was also dedicated by the participating students to the martyrs of Army Public School, Peshawar whose parents were specially invited in this function.

In the end Director General Special Education, Naeema Bushra Malik thanked the chief guest, special students and the participants of the event.
