LAHORE: The newly-elected MPAs for Punjab Assembly took oath of office in the 16th session of the house on Saturday morning.

The outgoing speaker Rana Iqbal presided over the session and administered oath to 358 MPAs-elect of Punjab Assembly.

The assembly’s speaker and deputy speaker would be elected in the second session of the house expected to be held on Monday.

Moreover, Shahbaz Sharif, PML-N’s nominee for the chief minister’s position, is likely to take oath on June 6.

In Punjab Assembly‚ Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has 340 seats‚ Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) 24‚ Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) 8‚ Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) 7 and Bahawalpur National Party (BNP) and Pakistan Muslim League–Zia one seat each.
