KARACHI: The Ramazan moon has been sighted, therefore, the first day of the fasting month will be observed across the country on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Ramazan in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait and Qatar began today (Wednesday). The first of Ramazan was also observed in Afghanistan, Malaysia and Indonesia.

The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee announced on Tuesday that the Ramazan moon was not sighted anywhere in the country and, therefore, Thursday would be the first day of the fasting month.

“Therefore, it has been decided unanimously that the Ramazan moon was not sighted on Tuesday and, therefore, the first day of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak will be on July 11 (Thursday),” Mufti Muneeb announced at a press conference after the committee’s meting which was held at the Met Complex.
