ISLAMABAD: The government has launched various hydro power projects of 20‚000 megawatt to overcome electricity shortfall in the country.

Addressing a meeting in Islamabad‚ Minister of State for Water and Power‚ Abid Sher Ali said 6600 megawatt coal fired Gaddani Power Project will be completed with the cooperation of China.

He said supply of electricity to the people at affordable tariff is the top priority of the government. For this purpose‚ we will have to shift from furnace oil to other cheaper fuels like coal fired power generation‚ hydro power solar‚ wind and nuclear power generation.
