LAHORE: The central Shura of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) declined to accept resignation of its Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan who decided to relinquish the post after party’s humiliating defeat in May 11 general elections.

The JI Chief had presented his resignation before Majlis-e-Shura of the party, but the Shura Shura did not accept it and asked him to continue his work as Ameer Jamaat.

The Shura said that not only the organization but establishment and other factors also played role in JI’s election failure.
