ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday, while reviewing and finalising National Health Insurance Programme, called for simultaneously targeting poverty and disease as it could ruin families.

Chairing a meeting on the programme here at the PM House, the Prime Minister said the National Health Insurance initiative designed for seven deadly diseases, should be designed and implemented in a transparent manner.

The Prime Minister called for effective use of technology for effective feedback and monitoring and in this regard he called for extensive monitoring by NADRA.

“This programme will be as good as good is the monitoring system works,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister was given a briefing by State Life Insurance and was informed that it was involved in executing the insurance programnme.

The Prime Minister directed that before its execution, a comprehensive awareness programme be launched.

The meeting was also attended by Engineer Khurrum Dastagir, Minister for Commerce, Ms. Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Ms. Saira Afzal Tarar, MOS for National Health Services, Secretary National Health Services and other senior officials.
